The Cleveland Cavaliers have stayed competitive for most of the 2023-24 NBA season.
They are currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 37-19 record, but that doesn’t mean they do not have any room for improvement.
One way to ensure that the team remains fresh and players keep getting chances is to award short contracts to free agents.
The Cavs did just that when they offered a 10-day contract to former Atlanta Hawks guard Sharife Cooper.
Considering Cooper hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season, he was undoubtedly happy to be provided with the opportunity to play for the Cavs, albeit on a 10-day contract, as revealed via his official Twitter handle.

Cooper didn’t have a long response to the news, and he simply thanked the Cavs for giving him an opportunity with the use of three emojis.
The 22-year-old was initially drafted by the Atlanta Hawks as the 48th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
However, after seeing him average 0.5 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game in 13 appearances, the Hawks decided to cut him.
Even though Cooper has landed a deal with the Cavaliers, there is no confirmation that he will stay with them for a long time.
After all, if he fails to impress the coaching staff of the organization, they can show him the door once his 10-day contract is over.
But on the positive side, if Cooper can prove he can be a valuable member of the team off the bench, he may find a permanent spot on the roster come playoff time.
