The Cleveland Cavaliers’ postseason ended in disappointment, and now everyone is wondering what they will do in the summer.
The same is true for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who were just eliminated from the playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
So, will these two teams do business in the months ahead?
Speaking on the Wine and Gold podcast, Chris Fedor said that the T-Wolves would be greatly helped by Garland.
“I think Minnesota is a team that needs the stuff that Darius [Garland] does well,” Fedor said on how Garland’s skillset helps the Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves’ series against the Thunder made one thing abundantly clear: as great as Anthony Edwards is, the offense in Minnesota needs to be better.
When he isn’t producing, the team’s output is greatly diminished.
Although there are plenty of players who can put up shots, the offense rests on Edwards, and he needs help.
Garland could deliver that help, and he could instantly provide the Timberwolves with more opportunities.
They got blown out on Wednesday night and still may have lost even with Garland, but the margin of victory would have been smaller.
This proposed move raises a bigger question: How seriously are the Cavs thinking of a Garland trade?
He was a central piece of the team this year, but they need to weigh all their options since they are clearly not a great playoff team.
Shipping away Garland would be a massive move, so they would want a lot in return for him.
If they really are serious about losing him, you can expect teams beyond just the Timberwolves will show interest.
