The Cleveland Cavaliers were winning at an almost unprecedented pace to start the season.
Of course, it was only a matter of time before they regressed.
They’ve lost three of their last six games, and while they still have the best record in the Eastern Conference and the league, they might not win the 70+ games they were on pace to win.
Even so, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
At least, that’s how former NBA player Daniel Gibson feels.
Talking on the “Full Court Cleveland” podcast, he argued that sometimes teams need to go through these stretches to regroup and get back to their best:
“Sometimes, it takes getting put on your seat one time to get up and regroup,” he said.

That makes perfect sense.
The Cavaliers were never going to win every game they played, and thinking that was simply unrealistic.
At this point, they need to stay healthy and keep testing things out for the playoffs.
Of course, that doesn’t mean they have to take their foot off the gas.
They still need to ensure they secure homecourt advantage throughout the postseason.
But that doesn’t mean that losing a game or two is the end of the world or that the rest of the league has finally caught up to them.
The Cavs have one of the best defenses in the game, and they have either the most efficient or the second-most efficient offense, according to most metrics.
Still, even the best teams in NBA history have lost a couple of games they should’ve won.
