Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers started the playoffs with a bang the other night.
He put up 30 points, five rebounds, four assists, and four steals in his team’s big win over the Miami Heat.
With that game, Mitchell has earned a spot in playoff history.
According to CavsMuse on X, Mitchell now averages 30.0 points per game for home games in the postseason.
That puts him in fourth place behind Jerry West with 30.1 points, Allen Iverson with 31.1 points, and Michael Jordan with 33.9 points.

Is there a chance that he raises that average in the weeks ahead?
The Cavaliers will hold home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, so that means Mitchell will have plenty of chances to put up monster numbers when the games are in Cleveland.
But even when they are on the road, Mitchell will likely lead his team and dominate.
For the 2024-25 season, Mitchell averaged 24.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists on 44.3 percent from the field.
If his first playoff game is any indication, he may do even better than that in the postseason.
The Cavaliers still have a long way to go, and there is no guarantee that they will win it all.
But it’s easy to imagine the team going far if Mitchell keeps playing like this.
This was Mitchell’s third season with the Cavaliers and his most important yet, and it might end with him finally being named a champion.
He’s had a good start, but can Mitchell keep it up in the many important games ahead?
