The Cleveland Cavaliers have had the best record in the NBA for most of the season.
It’s not usual for a team like that to get better throughout the course of the season, at least roster-wise.
However, Koby Altman and his team managed to do so.
Acquiring De’Andre Hunter from the Atlanta Hawks didn’t get much buzz around NBA media, but it may have been just what this team needed to go from a very good team to a championship-caliber squad.
Hunter has been on an absolute roll since he joined his new team.
As pointed out by The Cavs Jack on X, he’s now 20 of 33 from beyond the arc since he joined the team.
That’s good for a scorching-hot 60.6% shooting from three-point territory.

Needless to say, that kind of hot hand is pretty unsustainable, even for the greatest shooters of all time, but the team needs to keep riding it until it cools off.
Hunter is a very good three-point shooter.
He can flirt with 40% shooting from beyond the arc on a nightly basis.
Then again, his offense is pretty much a bonus for this team.
Hunter’s elite defensive play has been his best trait.
He can guard one through five, is an outstanding help defender because of his instincts, and is rarely caught ball-watching or called for fouls.
This team only needed a 3-and-D wing to be the most well-rounded roster in the league.
So far, it seems like the “3” part of his game has been even better than expected.
