The Cleveland Cavaliers are on pace to have the best season in franchise history.
That’s a lot to say, considering they had two separate stints with one of the best players of all time.
Kenny Atkinson’s team became the first in the league to clinch a playoff spot, and they’ve also won their division already.
They’re riding their second 15+ game winning streak of the season, which is something just a few teams have done in the past.
However, as great as they’ve been, Channing Frye is still taking his 2016 team over this one.
Talking on the ‘Odd Ball’ podcast, the former backup big man claimed that there was no chance on Earth that the 2025 Cavs would beat the 2016 Cavs.

He argued that they were a better shooting team, but this team had more shooting opportunities.
More than that, he thinks that they were more physical because they were a little older.
So, as good a defender as Evan Mobley is, he wouldn’t be able to stop 2016 LeBron James from getting a layup.
Frye claimed that this team had ‘no bullies,’ whereas the 2016 team had two bullies: James and Kyrie Irving.
Of course, all of those arguments are valid, and not having a superstar like James has made people doubt this team from the start of the season.
Then again, this team is deeper and has a strong chemistry, and, unlike that 2016 team, there aren’t personal agendas messing things up.
There’s no need to compare teams, but if someone were to do it, perhaps Tristan Thompson, who’s been there for both teams, would be more suited to share his thoughts on this matter.
