The Cleveland Cavaliers needed some heroics to get the job done vs. the Brooklyn Nets.
Once again, Kenny Atkinson’s team got off to a slow start.
This is a worrisome trend that needs to be corrected before the playoffs.
Fortunately, they’ve shown an impressive ability to take care of business and rally back from these deficits over and over.
As pointed out by Cavs Notes on X, the Cavs trailed by as many as 18 points on Tuesday night.
That gave them their 12th win of the season after trailing by double digits.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, it was also their fifth win of the season when trailing by 15 points or more.
The @cavs overcame an 18-PT deficit tonight, their 12th time winning after trailing by double-digits this season.
This is also Cleveland’s 5th victory when trailing by 15 points or more.#LetEmKnow

Granted, this isn’t ideal.
Cavs players have shown a big concern about their slow starts, and while they clearly have more than enough to get the job done regardless, they’re making it much more difficult than it should be.
Of course, not having Donovan Mitchell (groin) for this game took a toll on their chemistry and focus early in the contest, but they still could’ve and should’ve had an easy time beating a lesser team at home.
They’ve already come from behind to beat championship contenders like the Boston Celtics, but that might not be the case in the playoffs.
You can’t take a game, or even a play off in the postseason.
This team has excelled and has all sorts of resources to get hot in the blink of an eye, but they must bring that intensity to the court from tip-off.
