The Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off their best season without LeBron James.
However, it still wasn’t enough to win another NBA championship.
That’s why analyst Nick Pedone doesn’t see the James reunion rumors going away anytime soon.
He said Cleveland’s current roster will get one more chance to get over the hump, so another homecoming for the Los Angeles Lakers star can’t be ruled out.
“The Cavs are one of just four teams that inquired with Rich Paul about LeBron James and his availability, according to reports a couple of weeks ago. The door is not going to be shut until LeBron says, ‘No, this is it. I’m retiring a Laker.’ This conversation’s gonna be one that’s had. If this Cavs core four doesn’t get out of the second round again, we’re gonna be doing LeBron watch all 2026. This core four has all of one more season left. They’re a rental in and of themselves,” Pedone said, via 92.3 The Fan.

That makes sense, but James has always been very strategic about everything he says and does, and he’s not hinting at any sort of desire to come back to Cleveland.
He’s already made hundreds of millions in his career, so he can choose to sign a team-friendly deal to return to his hometown team if he wants to.
But if he’s looking to make $50 million again, the Cavs are unlikely to consider it.
He’s the greatest player in franchise history, and as such, he should always be welcomed back with open arms.
That doesn’t mean the organization should go out of its way to bring him back, especially at the expense of its future or its present.
It would be nice to see James end his career where it all started, and he’s always been fond of seemingly scripted storylines, so you can never rule it out.
