While the Cleveland Cavaliers have been the class of the league through the first half of the 2024-25 NBA season, they have finally hit a rough patch on their road toward a championship.
The Cavaliers have dropped three straight games, with two of their losses coming against the Houston Rockets.
The most recent loss to Houston was rough, as Cleveland put up 131 points but gave up 135 points in the process.
Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell led the way offensively, but their contributions weren’t enough to get the Cavaliers over the hump.
Cleveland still has a 36-9 record and is first in the Eastern Conference, but it needs to find a way to rebound.
Tom Withers of AP believes the recent skid is a good thing as it will allow the Cavaliers to really evaluate their roster and nail down what they can improve.
“Cavs’ incredible start gave some fans a false sense of security. There are bumps in every NBA season. Sometimes a few losses can help a team address its deficiencies,” Withers tweeted.

As Withers noted, there’s an easy way to spin the losing streak, and the organization must adopt this mentality if it wants to compete seriously for a championship.
These losses ahead of the NBA trade deadline should prompt the front office to look more closely at the market and see what kind of players they can add.
Wing help would be the obvious area, though the team could also use more help off the bench.
