The Cleveland Cavaliers are finally facing their first adversity of the 2024-25 NBA season, as they have lost their past three games.
The Cavaliers have lost twice to the Houston Rockets, with a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers sandwiched in between.
The most recent loss to Houston was a barn burner as they put up 131 points in the defeat.
Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell led the way in the scoring department, putting up 39 and 33 points, respectively.
Cleveland’s guards are usually the first options on offense, and they did more than carry their weight, but the defense was far from the team’s standards.
Following the loss, Mitchell kept things in perspective and offered a strong statement on where the Cavaliers currently stand via Spencer Davies of Cleveland Cavaliers On SI.
“Should have won this game regardless…we should have won the past two but it happens. Sky’s not falling, we’re fine but we gotta just be better,” Mitchell said.
“We’re not overreacting, but we’re reacting.”

NBA teams will have ebbs and flows throughout a long regular season, and it appears that Mitchell and company have finally started to hit a wall.
While some fans might be concerned about losing twice to the same opponent so soon, the fact is that the Cavaliers have proven they are a much better basketball team than recent results suggest.
Mitchell and the rest of the group should be highly motivated to help themselves get out of their funk.
They have another tough matchup on Monday against the Detroit Pistons.
