The Cleveland Cavaliers are Donovan Mitchell’s team.
However, he’s not necessarily their best or most talented player.
For years, Evan Mobley had shown glimpses of the potential to become a dominant two-way star, and it seems like he’s finally taking off.
As shown on X, the USC product has been on a roll over the past seven games.
During that stretch, he averaged 23.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game.
He’s got a 66.6% true shooting percentage, and the team has gone a perfect 7-0.

Mobley’s offensive breakout has been the biggest difference from this season.
He’s taking and making more threes, and his shot selection has been significantly better.
More than that, he’s toughened up and hasn’t shied away from contact, which has also helped him be a much more prominent rebounder.
His defensive prowess and ability to protect the rim and guard the perimeter were already top-notch.
Now, with more layers to his offense, he’s well on pace to be one of the best two-way players in the league.
Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland will most likely continue to lead the way on offense this season and maybe next year.
Then again, it’s clear that Kenny Atkinson has a vision for Mobley, and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see the team lean on him early and often as the years go by.
He’s just scratching the surface of his sky-high potential, and that should be a scary thought for the rest of the league.
