The Cleveland Cavaliers just keep winning.
Even when it seems like they’re not going to be able to get back in a game, they still get the job done.
That was the case again on Tuesday night.
Despite not having Evan Mobley (rest) on the court, being on the road, and trailing by as many as 15 points, Kenny Atkinson’s team still ran away with a 22-point triumph.
That gave them their 23rd road win of the season.
As pointed out by Cavs Notes on X, that’s the fourth-most road wins in franchise history.
This year's @cavs team now has the 4th most road wins in franchise history (23). Cleveland still has 12 road games remaining this season.
MOST ROAD WINS IN CAVS HISTORY:
27 (2008-09)
26 (2009-10)
24 (2015-16)
23 (2024-25)***
22 (1991-92, 2014-15, 2023-24)#LetEmKnow— Cavs Notes (@CavsNotes) March 5, 2025
With 12 more road games left in the regular season, they have a big chance to pass the 2008-09 team and their 27 road wins to become the best team in franchise history in that regard.
The legendary Phil Jackson used to have a rule to determine whether a team was a legitimate NBA championship contender or just a pretender.
He thought that teams that won 40 games before they lost 20 should be in the championship conversation.
The Cavs have gone 51-10 so far, so it’s pretty safe to say that they fit that bill.
Granted, they might not be able to take down the 73-9 Golden State Warriors, and maybe even matching the 72-10 Chicago Bulls might be out of the question.
But at the end of the day, this team looks like the most polished in the entire league, and it will take a lot for other teams to take them down four out of seven times when they meet in the playoffs.
