The Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t need much help at the trade deadline.
Nevertheless, even the best things can be improved.
They needed an athletic 3-and-D wing to be the most well-rounded team in the league this season.
That’s why, even though De’Andre Hunter isn’t a superstar, acquiring him may have taken this team to a whole new level.
So far, it’s worked like a charm for Kenny Atkinson’s team.
As shown by Mikey McNuggets on X, the team has gone a perfect 6-0 in six games since they acquired the former Atlanta Hawks forward.
More than that, during that span, they’ve led the entire league in offensive rating (127.5), defensive rating (104.1), net rating (23.4), rebounds per game (50.8), and bench points per game (48.2).
De'Andre Hunter has played 6 games with the @cavs now.
During that stretch, the team has been basically… perfect #LetEmKnow pic.twitter.com/1nv3LlP245

Hunter has started and played off the bench.
He’s played at the two, the three, and the four – and he could certainly play some small-ball five.
He’s the kind of defensive player who can guard one through five with ease, and he doesn’t commit many fouls.
His defensive presence alone is a massive boost to this team’s aspirations, and the fact that he can also knock down three-pointers at a 40% clip makes him even more productive.
There will always be some concerns about his health, given his history of injuries.
But as long as he’s on the floor, this team will have one of the most underrated two-way players in the league.
The rich always get richer, and the Cavaliers got absolutely loaded when they traded for the former No. 4 pick.
