The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially clinched the best record in the Eastern Conference.
They did so in high fashion.
They put up a whopping 135 points against the Chicago Bulls, and the most impressive thing about this is that it’s not even impressive anymore.
As shown by Cavs Notes on X, Tuesday night’s win was a franchise-record 20th game with at least 130 points this season.
Tonight was the @cavs franchise-record 20th game with 130+ PTS this season.
The previous team record for 130-PT games in a single season was just 5 times (twice, 2016-17 & 2017-18).#LetEmKnow

To put in context just how different this team has been from any other team in Cavs history, the previous record was just five games.
That happened twice during the second stint of the LeBron James era in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
While LeBron James is not there, this has a case for being the best team in franchise history.
Needless to say, it will all be meaningless unless they cap it off in the best possible way, which is with an NBA championship.
Some still believe that this year’s success is a fluke.
This team has been battle-tested throughout the course of the regular season, and they’ve responded almost every single time they’ve been challenged.
Nevertheless, the playoffs are an entirely different animal.
This team has left much to be desired in the past, and its struggles against more talented and physical teams raise questions about its potential to get the job done in a seven-game series.
Even so, some teams have to go through growing pains before being ready to take a leap forward.
Hopefully, that will be the case with this version of the Cavaliers.
