The Cleveland Cavaliers are the best team in basketball.
The stats say that, the eye test says that, and so do the power rankings.
At least, that’s the case with Bleacher Report.
In their latest edition, Andy Bailey kept Kenny Atkinson’s team at the top spot.
Truth be told, it was an easy decision.
If someone still had doubts about this team, their recent win against the Oklahoma City Thunder should have dismissed them.
The Thunder arrived riding a league-best 15-game winning streak.
They were the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and, with a win, could have tied the Cavs for the best record in the league.
There was much more than just a regular-season win at stake.
The Cavs showed up and showed out, getting a big win even though Donovan Mitchell logged one of the worst shooting games of his career (3-for-16, 18.8 percent).
The Cavs have now won 12 games in a row, the best current streak in the league.
They’re on pace to win more than 70 games this season and become the first team since the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors to reach that mark.
Of course, they hope to have better luck than the Warriors did in those NBA Finals if they get that far.
Nearing the midpoint of the NBA season, the gap between the Cavaliers and any other team keeps getting wider.
They’re the team to beat in the league.
