It wasn’t easy and wasn’t always pretty, but the Cleveland Cavaliers still managed to get a big win on the road.
They trailed by as many as 11 at one point but also led by 20 at one point.
They were very efficient in the second half.
And even though Evan Mobley missed the game with a calf injury and Julius Randle got hot, especially on the boards, the team still managed to get the job done.
Following the win, coach Kenny Atkinson gushed about his team’s performance and how they managed to hold down the fort:
“Heck of a win and a great way to close out the road trip,” Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson said. “We responded. Just came in bunches and we knocked them out. Very proud of the guys. That’s a heck of a win against one of the top caliber teams in the league.”
The Cavaliers closed out a very tough three-game road trip.
They beat the Indiana Pacers to get back at them after losing to them at home, and they didn’t find much success in the rematch vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder.
That game wasn’t close at all, and Mobley’s injury, while minor, still raised alarms.
That’s why it was so refreshing to see the team bounce back for a big win on the road against a playoff-caliber Western Conference team.
It’s never easy to win on the road, and some doubt often lingers after such a tough loss.
But good teams always have a short memory and don’t allow bad habits to snowball.
This win was yet another sign that this version of the Cavaliers isn’t just a good team; it’s a great one.
