The Cleveland Cavaliers, who had been practically untouchable for weeks, held a comfortable double-digit lead and seemed destined for victory number seventeen in a row.
But sometimes, basketball has other ideas.
The Orlando Magic engineered a remarkable comeback on Sunday, overcoming a 13-point deficit to hand the Cavaliers a 108-103 defeat, snapping Cleveland’s impressive 16-game winning streak.
The Eastern Conference powerhouse that had made a habit of stepping on opponents’ throats suddenly found themselves on the receiving end of a comeback.
Following the surprising outcome, Cleveland’s leadership didn’t shy away from addressing what went wrong.
“#Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson gives a lot of credit to the Magic for throwing off their offensive flow. That disruption led to Atkinson being displeased with Cleveland’s offense, admitting that there wasn’t enough ball movement and became too isolation heavy,” reported Right Down Euclid’s Evan Dammarell.

The game’s momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter when Orlando outscored Cleveland 35-23.
Franz Wagner emerged as the catalyst, pouring in nine points during that crucial stretch, while Paolo Banchero added seven of his own.
Despite this surge, the Cavaliers maintained a slim 83-82 advantage heading into the final period and appeared ready to reassert their dominance when Donovan Mitchell’s aggressive drive extended the lead to 91-84.
However, the Magic refused to fold.
Wagner continued his hot shooting with eight more fourth-quarter points, while Banchero and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope contributed five apiece.
This balanced attack allowed Orlando to complete their comeback, silencing the packed arena of almost 20,000 fans who had been anticipating another victory celebration.
For Cleveland, this setback represents merely a bump in the road during what has been an exceptional season.
The team has already compiled multiple extended winning streaks this year and will likely look to start another one immediately.
