Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons didn’t play in Friday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he was still on the mind of his opponents.
Speaking to the press, head coach Kenny Atkinson talked about Cunningham, how much he has grown, and what he means to the league and all the teams in it.
“He’s good for the league, he’s not good for the Cavs. Like we gotta keep facing this guy and he’s only getting better?” Atkinson said, per Sean Murphy.
My favorite piece from the Kenny Atkinson pre game presser came from a question from @omarisankofa
This quote about Cade was as real as it gets from a coach: “He’s good for the league, he’s not good for the Cavs. Like we gotta keep facing this guy and he’s only getting better?” pic.twitter.com/gEueyI3Ztb

Cunningham is most definitely getting better, and this is his best season yet.
The Pistons superstar is averaging 25.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game this year, which is a big improvement over last season.
He is one of the main reasons why his team has evolved in such a huge way.
Last season, they had a historically bad season, but this year they have already tripled their winning numbers and are fifth in the East with a 42-32 record.
Their power was on full display Friday night.
Even without Cunningham, the Pistons were able to beat the best team in the East, which is a clear testament to how talented their entire roster is, not just their main star.
Cunningham has consistently gotten better since being the first overall draft pick in 2021, and it seems like he will continue to improve in the years ahead.
He was named an All-Star for the first time this season, and it’s unlikely that it will be the last time.
Instead, he may be an All-Star many times and possibly even a champion.
Atkinson and many others fear Cunningham, but they also love how he is playing and helping the NBA.
