The Cleveland Cavaliers just lost their 15th game of the season, and they continue to struggle to reach 60 wins.
However, even though this isn’t the best way to close out the season, Sam Amico still sees some positives.
In the latest edition of his “Full Court Cleveland” show, the renowned insider raved about the reserves.
“They’re getting at worst solid play from the reserves. They do the little things to allow the stars an opportunity to take over games,” Amico said.

He thinks that the second unit really gives this team an edge and an opportunity to get the job done in the playoffs.
He argued that even though they don’t always necessarily score a lot of points, they’ve all been given a long leash to play heavy minutes and contribute, and they do the little things that help any team win.
Amico argued that the stars will always be good, so a team’s chances of winning the playoffs usually come down to whether the backups can also rise to the occasion.
That makes perfect sense, and depth is a major factor on championship-caliber teams.
Kenny Atkinson is pretty familiar with that.
The Golden State Warriors usually run a deep rotation, and his years sitting next to Steve Kerr may have had a big influence on that.
They’ve also done a solid job of keeping the starters’ minutes in check to keep them fresh for the playoffs.
Of course, the big-name players also have to step up, and that might be a concern with this team, given how much Darius Garland has struggled in big moments at times and Donovan Mitchell’s recent slump, but even stars need help.
