The Cleveland Cavaliers had the second-best record in the NBA this season.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson improved the team, taking everything that worked on defense and pushing the offense to a new level.
Unfortunately, that didn’t do much to help their cause in the playoffs, as they won only five games and were eliminated in the second round.
However, given their great regular season, it’s not surprising that several members of their coaching staff have been considered or gotten better positions elsewhere.
“So far this offseason, [the] Cavs have lost Cleveland Charge head coach Chris Darnell (Sacramento), assistant Bryan Tibaldi (Providence College), assistant Jordan Ott (Phoenix) and assistant DeMarre Carroll (Phoenix),” Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com wrote on X.

In addition, assistant Johnnie Bryant is being linked to the New York Knicks’ head coaching position, as he coached there under Tom Thibodeau before joining Atkinson’s staff ahead of this season.
Of course, that kind of overhaul is a big blow to the team, but it’s not like it hasn’t happened before in the NBA.
It speaks volumes about the great job Atkinson and his staff did this season, which should be an encouraging sign for years to come.
Hopefully, the Cavs will find suitable replacements who can help the team get deeper into the playoffs.
