The Cleveland Cavaliers are a good team.
However, it takes more than being a good team to win an NBA championship.
You need more than talent, you also need to have a deep roster, health and the ability to get through difficult times.
The Cavs check the talent box and the depth box, and they’re also a well-coached team.
Unfortunately, they’ve repeatedly proven that they’re not mentally tough enough to overcome adversity, and they’ve struggled with injuries.
That’s why insider Chris Fedor doesn’t think they have what it takes to win a championship as currently constructed.
“I don’t believe the Cavs are good enough. I don’t believe their core is good enough when it comes to winning a championship. I don’t believe their core is ready enough when it comes to winning a championship,” Fedor said.
Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with his assessments, as the results and numbers back up that claim.
The Cavs arguably don’t have a top-10 player in the league.
Evan Mobley has the potential to be one of the best two-way players in the game, but unless he takes another leap next season, the Cavs don’t have a true superstar to lead the way.
Donovan Mitchell might be better suited to be the second scoring option on a contender.
Jarrett Allen has been a no-show in the playoffs year in and year out.
As for Darius Garland, he’s either injured or plays poorly in the postseason.
This is the top basketball league in the world, and only the best will prevail.
