Cleveland Cavaliers fans enjoyed an exciting trade deadline that saw them acquire De’Andre Hunter from the Atlanta Hawks, who ideally slots right in alongside all four of this team’s All-Stars as a potential missing piece as a big, dynamic wing who can bring it on both ends.
Hunter will temporarily fill the void left behind by Isaac Okoro, who has been in and out with a shoulder injury for much of the season, but one team insider recently provided an encouraging update on him.
Analyst Evan Dammarell shared on X that he spotted Okoro near the back of the team’s practice facility with his gear on and noted that while he isn’t playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night, it’s at least an encouraging sign that he is getting closer.
I spotted #Cavs wingmen Isaac Okoro near the back of the facility with practice gear on.
Okoro isn’t playing tonight against the Timberwolves but that’s encouraging sign.

Okoro originally got hurt on December 16th and returned for about a week on January 8th, but looked to still be suffering from the injury and once again went out with the injury on January 16th and hasn’t played since.
Okoro was shooting well over 40 percent from three-point range prior to suffering the injury, but after returning too early, the team is wise to give him as much time as he needs to get right for the stretch run.
With Hunter in the mix, there is no reason to rush Okoro back, and it will be interesting to see how the lineups shake out when everybody is healthy.
It’s great to hear that a return could be coming sooner rather than later.
