The Cleveland Cavaliers used their 49th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft to select Emoni Bates.
Despite being a second-round pick, many believe that Bates has what it takes to one day succeed in the biggest basketball league in the world.
However, Emoni Bates will have to wait for his turn to crack the current Cleveland Cavaliers’ rotation.
Keeping that in mind, Bates has been assigned to the Cavs’ G-League team, Cleveland Charge.
Playing the NBA G-League will allow Emoni Bates to hone his skills before getting a call-up for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Speaking of Bates in the G-League, fans had various reactions to Bates’ recent 28-point performance in the NBA G-League.

Emoni Bates finished the game with 28 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 blocks to his name.
Bates scored 28 points on a terrible 8-of-22 shooting.
The fact remains that Bates is inefficient from the field.
If he cannot improve that aspect of his game, it’s hard to see him return to the Cavaliers soon.
After all, bad shooting was one of the reasons why the Cavaliers assigned Emoni Bates to the G-League in the first place.
Prior to being sent down to the Cleveland Charge, Bates was averaging just 1.7 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game for the Cavaliers.
Moreover, he shot a terrible 26.7% from the field, 25.0% from downtown, and 50.0% from the free-throw line.
Sure, Bates is a second-round draft pick, but these numbers are still astonishing for a professional basketball player.
