The Cleveland Cavaliers won 40 games before losing 10 games this season.
That’s usually the sign of a legitimate NBA championship contender.
Nevertheless, they have lost two of three vs. the Boston Celtics this season.
That’s why, after watching them struggle against athletic wings all year long, some believe they must address that issue before the trade deadline.
Donovan Mitchell, however, disagrees.
Following their home loss to the Celtics, Mitchell shut down the narrative about the team needing to make a move at the trade deadline (via Spencer Davies):
“We’re fine. We’re good,” he said.
“We’re fine. We’re good.”
Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen were asked trade deadline questions postgame as well. #Cavs players (obviously) want to see this through. https://t.co/qxhC1juIUC pic.twitter.com/9hSHY5njYK

Of course, it’s never wise to make big moves or blow the roster up when you’ve had the kind of success that they have had this season.
They’ve earned the benefit of the doubt this season.
The Cavaliers have been utterly dominant against most teams this season, and they’ve rarely lost consecutive games.
They play elite zone defense and usually get clean looks at the rim, boasting one of the best offenses we’ve seen in years.
You don’t want to mess with that kind of chemistry and risk falling off in the second half of the season.
They can’t be prisoners of the moment and just overreact after a tough loss against another championship contender, especially considering they’ve also beaten them once this season.
Then again, if you have a glaring need, it’s your job to address it.
It’ll be interesting to see what approach the team takes to the trade deadline, especially considering they don’t have that many assets to trade.
