The Cleveland Cavaliers may not have a top-ten player in the league right now, but they have three All-Stars.
This team knows that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and that approach has them as the No. 1 team in the Association.
Nevertheless, even though they don’t share the same iso-heavy and often selfish approach to the game as other teams do, the NBA is all about individual skills.
With that in mind, the media asked Donovan Mitchell to share his list of the five best players he’s ever seen in the NBA.
Of course, he talked about Michael Jordan, but he still chose to leave him off his list because he never actually got to see him play live.
Unsurprisingly, he chose LeBron James as one of the best, given that he’s still going strong after two decades of being at the top or near it.
Then, he chose Stephen Curry, someone his coach Kenny Atkinson is quite familiar with.
Then, he chose Kevin Durant, who’s perhaps the greatest pure scorer the game of basketball has ever seen.
He also included Nikola Jokic and his unique skill set as a center makes him an easy call here.
Last but not least, Mitchell had a rather interesting or maybe even unpopular opinion.
He chose Carmelo Anthony, raving about all the times he saw him work out and play, and while Anthony doesn’t usually get that kind of love, he’s, by all means, one of the best scorers ever.
