The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t needed Donovan Mitchell to do all the scoring anymore.
They’re spreading the wealth, and that approach to their offense has been more efficient this season.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean Mitchell can’t explode for big games when needed.
Notably, that has been the case lately.
As shown by Cavs Notes on X, the Louisville product has now topped the 20-point plateau 29 times this season and in six of their last seven games.

He got off to a somewhat slow start to the season, and some believe that still has to do with his lingering knee issue, which might require surgery at some point in the future.
That certainly didn’t seem to be the case in the Cavs’ 20-point win over the Miami Heat.
Mitchell scored 34 points on 13-of-24 from the floor.
He added five three-pointers on eleven attempts, one rebound, six assists, and two steals.
His season numbers haven’t been as impressive as they were in years past.
Right now, he’s got averages of 23.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game on 44.9% from the floor.
Then again, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
If anything, the Cavs have the best record in the league this season, so their approach has most definitely worked.
Mitchell is a great playoff performer, and we’ve seen how explosive he can be from all three levels.
The Cavs need him to stay healthy and fresh for when it matters the most.
And if everybody else can contribute and take some pressure off his shoulders, he’ll have an easier time taking over down the stretch.
