Darius Garland tried to help his Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs last season, but he was clearly hurt.
In fact, he is still hurt, and it’s expected that he will miss some time in the 2025-26 season.
Garland’s toe is getting better, slowly but surely, and he recently opened up about the pain he went through.
“It’s basically like a brand new toe really,” Garland told cleveland.com. “I got my 10th toe back. I had no big toe at the end of last season. I had like nine toes. I felt like I was playing with nine toes. That’s how I would describe it. Any type of movement was tough. Putting on a shoe was tough. Walking. Running. It was difficult. I said it last year to you guys: Nobody really understands what any athlete goes through. At least, injury-wise.”
Garland produced 18.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 5.2 assists during his five postseason games.
He missed time, and even when he did play, he was obviously not feeling like his regular self.
He has had surgery and is on the road to recovery, but the Cavaliers are still ready to start the season without him.
Hopefully, Garland will be back sooner rather than later and will be completely healed when he is back on the court.
When he was playing last season, everyone knew he was hurt, but few people understood just how bad it was.
Now he is revealing that his toe situation was severe and the pain was immense.
A number of things held the Cavs back during the playoffs last year, including Garland’s absence and physical state.
Thankfully, that shouldn’t be a problem next season, even if he takes a while to heal.
