Darius Garland is having the best season of his career.
Unsurprisingly, the Cleveland Cavaliers are also the greatest team in the NBA.
Speaking with Cleveland.com, Garland spoke about how he has improved his game this year and how everything has gotten better.
He said it’s all about the way that he handles the ball.
“Getting a shot on goal. That’s most important,” he replied. “Get a good shot instead of turning the ball over or forcing it. That’s the most important thing.”
Not “forcing it” is very important for Garland and the rest of his squad, but it only comes with confidence.
That is something that isn’t in short supply in Cleveland and the Cavaliers look like a squad that really thinks they can go all the way.
Their roster didn’t change in the summer and that had some fans concerned.
But it was ultimately a great thing because it allowed the Cavaliers to build a better chemistry and culture and that is partly why they have so much more belief in 2024-25.
You can see it in every game, especially with Garland.
The 25-year-old guard is averaging 20.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
He clearly came into this season looking for ways to improve his performance.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson has received a lot of praise for his work in Cleveland this year.
He has taken an existing roster and found ways to make every player better.
Garland improved his shooting and ball handling and the entire squad has reached its next level, thanks to their new head coach and a deeper level of confidence.
