Fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers filed into Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Thursday night expecting to see their team easily defeat the Portland Trail Blazers.
Instead, they witnessed a shocking upset as the underdog Blazers took the Cavaliers down, 103-95.
The disappointing loss shook fans and players, including Donovan Mitchell, who spoke to Spencer Davies about it after the game.
Calling it the “worst loss of the season,” Mitchell said that the team will have to come together individually and as a group to formulate a plan and “fix” things.
During his statement, Mitchell repeatedly said, “Let’s go,” signaling how much he wants to bounce back from this loss and make his team stronger.
“This is a turning point. Let’s go. We’ll be fine. We’ll fix it.”
Donovan Mitchell’s candor is why #Cavs stay even-keeled. Showing emotion is good, but understanding how to handle these terrible nights & make sure you take something away so it doesn’t happen again is paramount. pic.twitter.com/VTKpZ26hbH

Mitchell admitted that his team isn’t playing like championship contenders, which is obviously their main goal for 2023-24.
There were a bunch of problems with the Cavaliers on Thursday night and it is clear that there is much to work on.
Mitchell tried his hardest with 23 points, 7 rebounds, six assists, and four steals during his 33 minutes.
He was lacking from beyond the three-point line, however, as was the rest of the team.
Mitchell was just 1-of-9 from beyond the arc and the team only shot 21.9% with their three-pointers.
This letdown came just days after a strong win and it had fans hanging their heads low, with some of them even booing from the stands as the game came to a close.
Evan Mobley scored 20 points and 8 rebounds, Darius Garland posted 15 points and 7 assists, and Jarrett Allen scored a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
But the 12th-seeded Blazers still pushed past the Cavaliers and exposed a bunch of their issues and now it’s time to see if Mitchell and his squad can fix them.
