The Cleveland Cavaliers want continuity, not only on the roster but also in the front office.
That’s why they don’t want Koby Altman going anywhere.
According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, the Cavs signed Altman to a contract extension through the 2029-30 season.

This comes on the heels of one of the best seasons in franchise history, and their best campaign since LeBron James left the building.
The Cavs had the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, and team owner Dan Gilbert rewarded Altman, as well as general manager Mike Ganey and assistant GM Brandon Weems, with contract extensions.
Under Altman’s oversight, the Cavs have logged the third-best record in the league over the past three seasons, with three consecutive playoff berths and the second-most wins in a single season in 2024-25.
Altman doubled down on the Cavs’ ‘core four’ when analysts and fans alike urged the team to break them up, and it paid off with a strong season that proved that this team could be a legitimate championship contender.
He’s been the architect behind this project, drafting Evan Mobley, trading for Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell, and hiring Kenny Atkinson to replace J.B. Bickerstaff.
The Cavs made a big splash in the offseason by trading for Lonzo Ball while also re-signing Sam Merrill and bringing back Larry Nance Jr. for another stint with the organization.
Altman has been in his current position since 2022 after several years as the team’s general manager, and it seems like he’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
