The Cleveland Cavaliers may have the best record in the league, but they know they can’t afford to take any chances right now.
That’s why they won’t rest on their laurels or leave anything to chance.
With that in mind, they’ve chosen to sign Javonte Green.
The move was expected to take place, but as pointed out by Camryn Justice on X, it’s finally been made official.

Green agreed to a contract buyout with the New Orleans Pelicans after failing to find a trade partner.
The Cavs were reportedly interested in trading for him, but they prioritized getting De’Andre Hunter.
With the Pelicans set to have one of the worst records in the league, they have no room for the veteran.
Green is going to be a valuable contributor off the bench.
He’s a gritty and tough defender who can guard multiple positions.
Of course, he’s not going to give the team the kind of floor-spacing or another scoring threat they have with Hunter, but he can certainly hold his own on the defensive end of the floor.
The Cavs struggled against bigger and more athletic wings, and they addressed that issue by adding two players who can run through screens and stick to their opposition like a fly on the wall.
He’s not a superstar or a big-money signing.
Then again, teams with such a good record rarely get to add a star, and it’s not like they needed one anyway.
These are the kinds of moves that end up winning championships.
