The Cleveland Cavaliers can no longer top the 73-9 record of the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors.
At best, they can tie the legendary 1995-96 Chicago Bulls and finish the season at 72-10.
However, that seems quite unlikely, as the Cavs have already lost 10 games this season.
To equal those Bulls, that would mean the Cavs would win 32 games in a row, which would be one shy of the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers for the longest winning streak in NBA history.
Even if that’s not the case, the 2024-25 Cavaliers have already written their name in the history books.
As shown by Cavs Notes on X, their 56-10 record is tied for the fifth-best mark through 66 games in NBA history.
The @cavs 56-10 record is tied for the 5th-best start through 66 games in @NBA history.

The Cavs trail the 2015-16 Warriors (60-6), 1995-96 Bulls (59-7), 1996-97 Bulls (57-9) and 1982-83 Philadelphia 76ers (57-9).
Cleveland equaled the 2015-16 San Antonio Spurs and 1966-67 76ers at 56-10.
It’s crazy to see that these Cavs are closer to winning 60 games than to losing 20 games.
They’ve set new franchise records for the longest winning streak in a single season (16 and counting) and the longest winning streak on the road (11 and counting).
They’ve won all kinds of games, from blowouts to comebacks, from easy wins over contenders to struggles against non-playoff teams.
They can win shootouts or get things into the mud with their physicality.
They can overwhelm teams or take care of business in the clutch.
They’ve been battle-tested, and they’ve risen to the occasion at almost every single opportunity.
This team is making history, and barring injuries, they could be just as dominant in the postseason.
