The Cleveland Cavaliers have one of the most stacked lineups in the game.
They may not have a top-10 player, but they have several All-Stars who mesh well together.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see them having one of the best Big 3s in the entire league.
According to Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, the Cavs enter next season with the third-best trio in all of basketball:
“Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Darius Garland,” Swartz wrote. “The only Big 3 where every member made the All-Star game last season, this young group of Cleveland Cavaliers is only going to be better going into Year 4. Led by two of the best offensive guards in the NBA and a big man who won DPOY honors, the Cavs have the best Big 3 in the East and one of the most promising trios in the entire league. A lack of playoff success has held them back to this point, although that has more to do with health than ability.”
The Cavs were ranked even ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers’ trio of Bradley Beal, James Harden, and Kawhi Leonard, and also better than Alperen Sengun, Kevin Durant, and Amen Thompson of the Houston Rockets.
Only the Denver Nuggets (Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, and Nikola Jokic) and Oklahoma City Thunder (Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) were ranked ahead of them.
On paper, the Cavs have more than enough to get the job done and hold their ground against every single team in the league.
They weren’t a good match against the Indiana Pacers, but it wasn’t a matter of talent; it was by design.
The Cavaliers need to build their offense and their roster around Evan Mobley.
He has the highest upside of their trio of stars, and he’s the only one with a legitimate chance to become a top-10 player in the league.
Darius Garland seems to be the weakest link because of his injuries and postseason struggles, and Donovan Mitchell still needs to prove himself in the playoffs.
Still, this team should be very good for years to come, as long as they’re together.
