For a while, it seemed the Cleveland Cavaliers wouldn’t make any big moves before the upcoming NBA trade deadline.
But their stance may be changing and they could be angling to get one of the biggest targets on the trade market.
According to Joe Vardon, per NBACentral, the Cavs are “looking” to add Cam Johnson, currently of the Brooklyn Nets.
Vardon reported:
“Executives from three franchises told The Athletic that Cleveland has expressed interest in acquiring 6-foot-8 forward Cam Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets β one of the most coveted players league-wide in the trade market β with the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline fast approaching.”
The Cavs are looking to add Cam Johnson alongside Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, per @joevardon

Johnson has been one of the hottest commodities over the last several weeks, and multiple teams have been interested in trading for him.
Could the Cavaliers end up being the lucky franchise that snags him?
He is averaging 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game for the Nets and is shooting a strong 49.9 percent from the field and 42.8 percent from the three-point line.
Johnson has become a legitimate star during his time with the Nets and they are well aware of that.
That means they will drive a hard bargain in any potential trade featuring Johnson.
Do the Cavaliers have what it takes to make a deal happen?
They don’t have a lot of options and assets when it comes to a trade unless they want to give away some of their deep bench.
Thursday’s shocking loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder exposed some of the problems that exist within the team.
Johnson might help them solve some of those problems, but it would cost the Cavaliers a lot.
