It feels hard to believe, but the NBA preseason isn’t that far away.
It’ll be upon us before we know it, starting at the beginning of October.
Games are already being announced, including four preseason matches for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The team just publicly announced four games, two on the road and two at home, at Rocket Arena.
The Rocket Arena games will be against the Chicago Bulls on October 7th and the Detroit Pistons a week later.
They will take on the Bulls in Chicago and also battle the Celtics in Boston.
Preseason games aren’t usually that exciting, but they have become more important over the last few years.
That’s because it has become more common for big-name players, such as Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley, to participate for at least a few minutes in preseason games.
These games aren’t the same as the Summer League, when only rookies and young men on two-way contracts play.
The preseason is definitely something to watch, but obviously doesn’t have a true impact on the team.
Instead, these games are a chance for players to shake off their rust and find chemistry before the long season ahead.
It also gives coaches the ability to test out their roster choices and figure out which lineups work and which ones need to be tweaked.
For a team that has grown increasingly deep, like the Cavs, these games will provide certain players a chance to play more than they probably will for the rest of the year.
And for fans, it’ll be a reason to get excited because it means the regular season is right around the corner.
