The Cleveland Cavaliers were the best team in the Eastern Conference this season.
And with Jayson Tatum most likely out for next season and the Boston Celtics likely having to offload some talent, they could have that same distinction in 2026.
The New York Knicks will have a new head coach, so they will also be a bit of a question mark.
With that in mind, Jonathan Peterlin and Nick Wilson debated about the potential course of action for this team.
Talking on 92.3 The Fan, Peterlin made a case for running it back with this core, whereas Wilson believes they need to make some moves to win the Larry O’Brien trophy again:
"Do you need a perfectly fit puzzle to make it to the NBA Finals?…To make it to the NBA Finals? No. To win the NBA Finals? Yes."

The Cavs clearly have a very talented group of players, and they should be competitive for years to come.
Then again, if they don’t want to settle for just being a playoff team and if they want to actually compete at the highest level, they might have no choice but to make some moves.
This core of players, as talented as it is, has disappeared in the playoffs way too many times in the past to ignore.
Some people talk about the necessary heartbreak and struggle before the eventual consagration, but it’s not like this was Darius Garland or Jarrett Allen’s first trip to the playoffs.
Sometimes, you have to take a step back to take a couple of steps forward, and as well as this team fared this season, the outcome was the same that it had always been.
