The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to roll teams during the 2024-25 NBA season as their blend of offense and defense has proven to be overwhelming for most squads.
The Cavaliers made another statement win recently, blowing out the New York Knicks 142-105, cementing their status as an Eastern Conference juggernaut.
Cleveland’s core of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen are playing close to perfect basketball, while their supporting cast has done a great job of contributing around them.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson has built an efficient and potent system on both ends of the floor and should be considered the front-runner for NBA Coach of the Year.
It’s hard to pinpoint one player to attribute most of the team’s success to, but Garland’s made a leap both as a scorer and a playmaker this year.
Spencer German specifically noted how well Garland’s been in clutch situations via 92.3 The Fan.
“(Garland’s) clutch numbers are incredible. In theory, Mitchell is probably the guy you want…and I think Mobley’s getting into the conversation where you can start to trust him a little bit more,” German said.

As German noted, Mitchell is the most likely option to take over in crunch time, but Garland has shown he can handle that responsibility as well.
Despite being a smaller guard, Garland is crafty enough to get to his own spots and is a solid 3-point shooter.
The Cavaliers’ offense functions at its best when Garland’s rolling, and it’ll be interesting to see if this translates to the postseason.
