The Cleveland Cavaliers were able to sail past the Miami Heat in the opening round of the NBA playoffs, but things won’t be as easy in the second round.
That’s because the Cavs will face the lightning-fast Indiana Pacers, who could present quite a problem for Cleveland.
On the Wine and Gold Talk podcast, Jimmy Watkins summed up one of the reasons why the Pacers could be so difficult for Cleveland: they can score a lot.
“I just think it’s the fact that they can score with the Cavs. And that might sound simple, but I think that’s a really tough baseline to meet for a lot of teams,” Watkins said.
As noted by Watkins, that might sound simple, but it’s also a legitimate fear of all Cleveland fans.
Throughout the season, the Pacers have shown that they can move quickly and can score a lot of points.
Both of those elements combined could spell serious trouble for the Cavaliers.
On top of that, the Pacers are feeling very fired up and confident following their win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Some people thought the Bucks would be problematic for the Pacers, but they were able to slide past them and now believe they can do it again against the Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers are no slouches, of course, and they can also score many points in a game.
But the Pacers play with a tempo and energy that could be challenging for Kenny Atkinson and his team.
The Cavaliers know the Pacers will be tough, and they are ready for that.
They will make necessary adjustments and change their game plan when needed in order to win.
They are expecting a fight, and they will come prepared and take nothing for granted.
This is sure to be a high-scoring and exhausting series for both teams.
