The Cleveland Cavaliers have won twelve games in a row.
They also got a convincing win in their biggest game of the season so far.
They put an end to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s league-best 15-game winning streak, holding their own at home to make a statement and prove that they’re for real.
However, even though they put the league on notice, some have wondered whether having Chet Holmgren on the floor would’ve changed the game.
With that in mind, Sam Amico of Full Court Cleveland addressed the issue by stating that people shouldn’t focus on hypotheticals:
“It’d be a little different, but it’s not a great idea to play the coulda, shoulda, woulda game,” he said.
Would the Cavs thrilling win over OKC have looked different if Chet Holmgren had played? #LetEmKnow

That’s right on point.
Of course, having a star like Chet Holmgren changes the equation, but hypotheticals go both ways.
Donovan Mitchell had arguably his worst game of the season, so people should wonder whether this game would’ve even been close if he had performed at his usual level.
The Cavaliers are the best team in all of basketball, and there’s simply no reason or need to nitpick or play the wondering game.
Kenny Atkinson’s team deserves all the credit in the world for what they’ve been able to do this season, and they cannot take anything away from this team.
Needless to say, that doesn’t mean they should start overlooking other teams.
This team should remain focused and continue their current approach, as the rest of the league has not yet caught up with them.
They are on track to win over 70 games for the first time in franchise history.
