The Cleveland Cavaliers have had quite the season.
After not having many expectations heading into the year, this team started the year with a 15-0 record and has continued to dominate their opponents.
They went on another 16-game streak later in the season, but they’ve also had some struggles lately that concerned fans, wondering if the team was going to limp into the playoffs.
It seems like they have come out of this slump, winning four of their past five games, including their most recent game over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Head coach Kenny Atkinson addressed this in a postgame presser, according to analyst Evan Dammarell on X, saying this was a “must-win” contest after falling to the Detroit Pistons in the game prior.
#Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson said there was some lingering frustration after their loss to Detroit and considered today’s game against the Clippers a “must win” after how Cleveland lost to LA on the road.
Atkinson said it was needed to give the team a psychological shift.

Atkinson also called this a “psychological shift,” an indication that his team is in the right headspace to get through the rest of the regular season.
The Cavaliers only have seven regular season games left until the playoffs, with their next being on Wednesday against the New York Knicks.
Their schedule will certainly be difficult heading into the playoffs, as they have the Knicks twice, the Indiana Pacers twice, and the Sacramento Kings, along with the Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs.
If they can keep up this winning mindset against these difficult matchups, they should be set up well for the postseason, where expectations have gotten loftier as the year has gone on, with the fans hoping they can go all the way.
