The Cleveland Cavaliers may have liked what they saw from their G-League standout.
Even with limited opportunities, Nae’Qwan Tomlin managed to impress Kenny Atkinson and his coaching staff.
According to a report by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the team will sign Tomlin to a two-way contract.

Notably, the deal will cover two seasons.
The Cavs called up the 24-year-old from the G-League and signed him to a ten-day contract.
During that span, the power forward made three appearances and averaged 3.3 points and two rebounds on 50% from the floor and 4.7 minutes per game.
A 6-foot-10 undrafted rookie, Tomlin first caught the Cavs’ eye when he got an Exhibit 10 contract.
The Memphis product has been one of the best players in the G-League, averaging 15.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 35 appearances for the Cleveland Charge.
The Cavs already have their three two-way contracts filled.
That means that JT Thor, Luke Travers, or Emoni Bates will have to be waived or promoted to the 15-man roster before they can finish Tomlin’s new deal.
The team will have until March 4th to make that decision.
Of all the aforementioned players, Bates seems to have the higher upside, but he’s also had a history of well-documented off-court issues, and while the talent is clearly there, he’s still a ways away from being able to contribute on a nightly basis.
Even so, this is a good problem to have for the best team in all of basketball, and it’ll be interesting to see if Tomlin gets more playing time going forward.
