The Cleveland Cavaliers’ depth is a big reason the team has the best record in the Eastern Conference at 46-10.
This roster is loaded behind the Core Four stars with players ready to step in and ensure the team doesn’t miss a beat if Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, or Jarrett Allen miss a game.
The front office added even more depth at the trade deadline and recently gave Mitchell and Garland some more backcourt insurance with the signing of veteran guard Javonte Green, who was bought out by the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this week and had a very matter-of-fact response when asked about how he likes his new city so far.
During a recent press conference at practice, Green was asked about what his first impression of Cleveland was, and he replied quite simply, “It’s cold.”

Green was averaging 5.8 points per game over 50 games for the Pelicans this season and has been an efficient backup guard throughout his six years in the NBA with a career field-goal percentage of 51.9 and just 0.5 turnovers per game.
It’s unclear where he’ll fit in given how deep Cleveland’s rotation is now that everyone is healthy, but it never hurts to add another quality veteran into the fold when you’re chasing a championship.
He is right about the weather though, as Cleveland has been experiencing highs in the mid-40s with plenty of rain and snow of late while New Orleans has been in the 60s and 70s.
It’s a small price to pay to chase an NBA Championship.
