Cleveland Cavaliers fans were unsure if the team would make any moves at the trade deadline.
After seeing teams like the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks turn the NBA world around with some superstar acquisitions, however, the Cavaliers decided they needed to make a play of their own.
The front office ultimately decided to go after De’Andre Hunter, adding another big name to this already-strong lineup.
Hunter certainly helps make this team better down the stretch, giving the Cavaliers that much more of a boost heading into the second half of the season and playoffs.
While acquiring Hunter might have felt like the Cavaliers’ last move of the season, there’s always more room for growth, as reporter Evan Dammarell indicated on X.
He pointed to four players that the Cavaliers could pursue over the next several weeks, assuming they agree to buyouts with their teams.
Dammarell mentioned Larry Nance Jr., Seth Curry, Josh Richardson, and Daniel Theis.
I've been thinking about it, and these are the players I feel the #Cavs should zero in on if they agree to a buyout with their current team:
• Larry Nance Jr.
• Seth Curry
• Josh Richardson
• Daniel Theis— Evan Dammarell (@AmNotEvan) February 7, 2025
All four of these players have certainly had success throughout their respective NBA careers, but aren’t considered All-Stars at this point.
They could, however, bring a veteran presence and more depth to the Cavaliers, which is much-needed during a potentially deep playoff run.
It’s unclear if the Cavaliers are looking to add anyone else, but in Dammarell’s mind, it’s at least worth looking into.
The Cavaliers have a strong lead in the Eastern Conference at the moment, but they’ll need to keep their foot on the gas if they want to hold off teams like the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Milwaukee Bucks.
