It’s not clear if the Cleveland Cavaliers will make a lot of changes at the upcoming trade deadline.
After all, they have the best record in the league right now so why would they want to pursue anything major to risk that?
With that being said, the Cavaliers have a few options and there are several stars they could try to trade for.
Writing for The Athletic, Sam Vecenie wrote about one player who could be a great fit for Clevland: Larry Nance, Jr., currently of the Atlanta Hawks.
“Nance makes about $11.2 million and is on an expiring contract. “Expect a significant number of organizations to potentially get involved here because they think Nance could help in a late-season push with frontcourt depth. The top two teams that come to mind are the Cavaliers and Bucks, both of whom need an influx of smart defensive play off the bench,” Vecenie said.
Lance was putting up 9.5 points and grabbing 4.3 rebounds per game before he injured himself in December.
But he isn’t expected to be out for long and could return to the NBA as a new member of the Cavaliers.
Vecenie said the Hawks want to keep Nance, but they may end up trading him if they can’t come to an agreement with a contract extension or can’t move away other players like Clint Capela or Onyeka Okongwu.
Nance could easily slide into the Cavaliers’ rotation and help them improve on both ends of the court.
Over the last few years, he has been an asset to teams like the Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Hawks.
Of course, Cavaliers fans remember him for his time with the team from 2018 to 2021.
During those four seasons, Nance averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.
Is it time for his second stint with Cleveland?
