The starters for the 2024-2025 NBA All-Star game have been announced, with reserves slated to be announced in the coming days.
There weren’t many surprises on the starting lineups, as these votes are mostly driven by fans, so popularity is certainly something to take in mind when looking at these two teams.
Donovan Mitchell was the only member of the Cleveland Cavaliers to receive a starting spot, and it will be interesting to see which other Cavaliers players will make the cut to be a reserve, if any.
Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen all received at least 500,000 votes from fans, which might be an indication that at least one of them will make the team.
Fan votes were revealed to the public, as were the number of media members that voted for each player.
The media votes were puzzling to analyst Evan Dammarell, who pointed out on X that Allen didn’t receive a single vote in this category.
#Cavs big man Jarrett Allen getting zero (0) votes from the media is surprising to me.

He was popular enough in the public’s eye to garner over 500,00 votes, but couldn’t pull any media members his way.
This could be for a myriad of reasons, but considering how well he’s performed for the Cavaliers all season, this will likely cause more outcry among the fanbase.
All-Star voting is certainly an honor, but the Cavaliers are much more focused on winning games during the regular season to hopefully set themselves up for success down the road.
Allen might feel snubbed by these numbers, but if he lets his play do the talking in the second half of the season, he’ll prove his doubters wrong.
