The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t need Donovan Mitchell to carry the load on offense night in and night out.
That’s perhaps why his numbers have dropped this season.
However, that doesn’t mean he’s not capable of lighting it up.
He’s shown that recently.
As Cavs Notes points out on X, the former Utah Jazz shooting guard has now scored 30 points or more in three of his last four games.
.@spidadmitchell has now scored 30+ PTS in 3 of his last 4 games.
He has 11 games of 30+ PTS this season.#LetEmKnow

That happened again in the big win over the Phoenix Suns.
Mitchell finished the game with 33 points on 11 of 25 from the floor and 4 of 9 from beyond the arc, adding five rebounds and five assists.
That was his eleventh 30+ game of the season.
Under Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers have shared the wealth, getting everybody involved and in a rhythm on the offensive end of the floor.
That has taken a big burden off Mitchell’s shoulders, and he’s no longer worn out at the end of games.
If anything, he’s allowing everybody else to get their shots before taking over down the stretch, and he’s currently one of the leaders in fourth-quarter points in the league.
But with Evan Mobley out with a calf injury, someone had to step up and take care of business, and Mitchell has never shied away from that kind of challenge.
Of course, he’s still the best scorer on the team, but the Cavs have found strength in numbers and don’t need to rely solely on him for shotmaking.
Make no mistake, however, he’s still the same three-level scorer he’s always been.
