The Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t make any significant personnel moves regarding their roster this offseason.
They just moved on from head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and replaced him with Kenny Atkinson.
Bickerstaff did a solid job for the most part, but things needed to run a different course.
Atkinson’s arrival has been an absolute blessing, as he’s brought the best out of the talented core four.
That has been particularly true for Evan Mobley.
“Evan Mobley is making 3s at over 41% this season after shooting just 29% for his career to this point. The leap is real,” Nick Karns wrote on X.

Mobley is taking and making more 3-pointers under Atkinson.
He’s looked more comfortable out there, and he’s finally providing the spacing the Cavs desperately craved on offense.
Without that, the Cavaliers could have had to assess Mobley’s fit in the frontcourt with Jarrett Allen, which was always a major subject of debate.
Instead, Mobley has elevated his offensive game to a whole new level.
He looks comfortable going left, and he’s been very efficient finishing with either hand.
He’s been a much more aggressive driver as well, putting opposing players on posters left and right.
Mobley always showed the potential to be one of the best two-way players in the game, but he hadn’t consistently done much on offense.
His numbers might not look much better on paper, but how he’s getting his points has opened up a lot of things for the rest of the team.
