The Cleveland Cavaliers have been utterly dominant this season.
Kenny Atkinson’s team is playing lockdown defense and efficient offense.
They’ve won most of their games by a margin, so it’s not surprising that they currently have the best point differential in the league (12.39).
We’re not talking just about this season but also league history.
As pointed out by Sam Amico on X, they’re currently ahead of the 1972 Los Angeles Lakers (12.28), 1971 Milwaukee Bucks (12.26), 1996 Chicago Bulls (12.24), 2017 Golden State Warriors (11.63), and 2024 Boston Celtics (11.34).
If you’re wondering whether all those teams have something in common, they do: They all went on to win the NBA Championship.

Of course, it’s still too early in the season to start thinking about parades and whatnot.
Then again, it wouldn’t be crazy to think that the Cavaliers might change their plans for this season.
They wanted to compete at the highest level this year, but not even the most optimistic fan thought they could be a championship contender in Kenny Atkinson’s first year in charge.
Now, they can look to be more aggressive in their pursuit of talent before the trade deadline, making sure to get someone who can get them over the top and to the next level.
Of course, they must be cautious not to disrupt the team’s chemistry.
But there are plenty of reasons to be excited and feel quite confident about this team’s chances of going the distance this season.
