The Cleveland Cavaliers didn’t make many moves during the offseason.
Finding a new coach and extending Donovan Mitchell were their top two priorities, and they fulfilled both.
Fortunately for them, they found a major reinforcement in-house.
Ty Jerome, who missed most of his first season with the organization with an injury, has been a massive catalyst this season.
He should be leading the race to win Sixth Man of the Year, not only because of his numbers but also because of his impact.
As StatMamba on X pointed out, Jerome has been on an absolute tear over his past ten games, averaging 15.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.5 three-pointers per game.

If that wasn’t impressive enough for a reserve player, he’s doing that on 60% from the floor, 57% from beyond the arc, and 93% from the free-throw line.
Jerome also scored a career-high 29 points in a spot-start for Darius Garland, and he followed that effort with a 26-point outing.
Perhaps he will fall back to Earth at one point, and those shooting splits might be unsustainable even for the greatest three-level scorers in NBA history.
But even if that’s the case, his ability to stretch the floor, his timely passing, and his handling of the basketball will continue to be huge for Kenny Atkinson’s team.
Jerome isn’t a marquee name in this league by any means.
Nevertheless, he might be the team’s third or fourth most important player right now, which is a lot to say, considering they might have four All-Stars on the roster.
