Casual Cleveland Cavaliers fans might not have known Jaylon Tyson’s name until a few days ago.
Tyson was sprung into a starting role after Darius Garland was surprisingly ruled out against the New Orleans Pelicans.
This was Tyson’s first start in his rookie campaign, and he did not disappoint when given the opportunity.
He finished the game with 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks, all while shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor.
With this performance, Tyson didn’t just introduce himself to the Cavaliers fanbase, but he introduced himself to the rest of the league.
The rookie was the talk of the town after this near-triple double, and people are trying to get a feel for him and what he expects from himself moving forward.
Tyson spoke to the media about this breakout game, as Spencer Davies highlighted on X, peeling back the curtain on what he’s feeling.
“I just wanna add value to this team that we don’t have. And whatever role that is, I’m willing to mold into that,” Tyson said.

Tyson seems grateful for the opportunity to start and to showcase his skills to his teammates, coaches, and the rest of the league.
Rookies don’t always have an easy time when they come into the league, but when the Cavaliers needed him most, he rose to the occasion and put together a dominant performance.
